Stewart Timber - About Us
ABOUT US
Stewart Timber Fencing started in 1968 in forestry, harvesting
and marketing timber to sawmills throughout Scotland.
Over the past 30 yrs the company has continually expanded and
is now recognised as a leading manufacturer and supplier of Garden
Products to the Scottish Market serving Central Scotland and beyond
with products designed to suit the Scottish Market and "weather
conditions".
The Company has over the past few years invested heavily in manufacturing
equipment, yard storage and handling equipment, all aimed at producing
products to a high standard, maintaining quality whilst also increasing
quantity and ensuring a customer focussed approach in a rising
market. Recently Stewart Timber invested over £500,000 on
a new Treatment facility, which is one of the largest and most
modern in Europe. With the addition of this new site the overall
operation at Cumbernauld now has 50,000 sq ft under cover with
total yard area in excess of 6 Acres.
NEW TREATMENT PLANT
Commissioned in Dec 2003, the new plant consists
of two new Pressure vessels, one 25m and one 20m long. New environmentally
friendly
Chemicals are being used in addition to catering for specialist
uses.
The new Treatment plant caters for five different treatments
and has many unique features. The facility is in line with the
requirements
of the largest Timber Merchants, reflecting the scale of turnover
in timber within the company.
In addition to our own production we treat timber for most major
Timber Merchants in the central belt of Scotland, with an annual
capacity of 45,000 Cubic metres of timber per year on a single
shift basis.
This new treatment plant will help keep Stewart Fencing Ltd at
the forefront of the Scottish Timber Industry and will also help
us to maintain our high quality of manufactured products.
Premium Decking will from now on be treated with water repellent
additive in addition to the standard chemicals. The advantage of
this is that water runs off the surface rather than being absorbed
into the timber, this means that moisture already in the timber
takes more time to dry out in hot weather reducing the risk of
cracking or spliting and making the timber more stable with less
swelling and contraction, which also adds to its life expectancy.
